EXCELLENCY THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE GOVERNMENT HONORABLE MEMBERS OF THE PARLIAMENT EXCELLENCIES AMBASSADORS, ASEAN SECRETARIAT, DISTINGUISHED FRIENDS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

It is indeed a great honour and privilege for me, to address you all today to celebrate our National Day. Today we are celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the launching of the Glorious Algerian Revolution of 1st November 1954. Needless to recall, in this regard, that the launching of the war of national liberation, the 1st of November 1954, was the culmination of a continuous popular struggle that never faded since the invasion of the country by the French colonizer in 1830. Algeria will never forget the role played by the Bandung Conference in 1955 in the internationalization of the Algerian cause and in the recognition of the right of the Algerian people to self-determination and independence. EXCELLENCIES; LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. The ideals of peace, freedom, justice and cooperation have been, and continue to be, the guiding principles of the Independent Algeria in its vision to improve peace and global governance and in its solidarity with the oppressed peoples that are still fighting colonialism and foreign occupation. We do remember that on this day, 15 November, 36 years ago, at the 19th Palestinian National Council held in Algiers, Algeria, the great Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat read out the Palestinian declaration of independence. Since joining the Security Council, Algeria has worked to keep the spotlight constantly on the Palestinian cause in particular and on developments in the Middle East in general. EXCELLENCIES LADIES AND GENTLEMEN It goes without saying that the noble ideals of justice and solidarity are also the guiding principles in the post-independent Algeria’s policies at the domestic level.   With its well-known potentialities, in terms of strategic geographic location, natural resources, political stability and qualified human resources, Algeria is undergoing an ambitious program aiming at insuring a steady growth and continuous development of the country. EXCELLENCIES LADIES AND GENTLEMEN It is with a great satisfaction that I hail the excellent relations of friendship, cooperation and solidarity that happily exist between Algeria and Indonesia. Algeria and Indonesia have a long-standing historical relationship. We view Indonesia as an important partner in the ASEAN region. Last December, on the occasion of the working visit of the former Indonesian Foreign Minister to Algeria, Algeria and Indonesia agreed to deepen the political relations, to strengthen consultations on regional and international issues of common interest and to concretely increase trade and investments. The two countries cooperate very well in the Energy field through their national corporations SONATRACH and PERTAMINA. There are promising prospects for Mining, Agricultural, Start-up and Education and Training sectors. Next year we plan to hold the second session of the intergovernmental bilateral committee as well as a session of the political consultation’s mechanism. EXCELLENCIES LADIES AND GENTLEMEN Algeria is also working to strengthen its relations with ASEAN and we are looking forward to the signature of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation next year. EXCELLENCIES LADIES AND GENTLEMEN On this memorable occasion, I wish to extend my best wishes and warm greetings to the Algerian community living in Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, and to all friends of Algeria. Long live Algerian-Indonesian friendship. I thank you
